Facebook chief  Mark Zuckerberg  on Thursday announced the parent company's name is being changed to " Meta " to represent a future beyond just its troubled social network.  The name change comes as the company battles criticisms from lawmakers and regulators over its market power, its algorithmic decisions and the policing of abuses on its platforms. Paytm launches Payments back, India's first bank to offer Cashback

Paytm launched its first phase of payments bank today and is sending invites to selective people in north India to join it. The physical branch is in Noida.

In the first year bank plans to expand 31 branches and add 3000 customers. By 2020 it plan to add 500 million customers. It has already got an investment of 220 crores from its parent company. In the second phase it will expand the bank in metro cities.

What will happen to my Paytm wallet balance? 
-->  It will continue to be a wallet and your balance will not be increased or deducted. So don't worry. While it will become a part of the bank, but you will not get any interest  if you wish to open an account you have to o wait for the email or file a request for it. 

Do i have to do something to continue using Paytm? 

No you don't have to do anything. You can transact, keep balance in wallets. This process will not be affected. You wil be automatically transferred to Paytm payments bank. 

How to open a new account? 

You can log in to paytmpayementsbank.com or download the Ios app to get the invite. 

What is the annual interest offered? 

Paytm is offering 4% annual interest rate and cash backs on deposits. You can open an account with 0 balance also. 

Note: First 1 million customers to open account With INR 25,000 deposit gets cashback of 250 instantly. Paytm will issue debit cards in partnership with RupayCards for an annual fee of Rs 100. First 5 ATM transactions will be free in non metro cities per month.  Post that you will be charged rs 20 per ATM withdrawal.
